How to watch video from laptop on TV without wires?

What is the best way to watch media from a computer on a TV wirelessly in your experience?
The TV has an HDMI input.
PS. By video I mean mostly movies, DVDs and Blu-rays.

Options to choose from:

  1. Buy a minicomputer with Wifi, htmi output and VLC installed, broadcast from a desktop computer
  2. Buy laptop with hdmi output
  3. Buy a ready-made set-top box (or media player) with a wireless interface and the ability to receive over some http.

If the TV set has Smart TV, then on the computer (Win 7) it will be in devices and you can send music, photos, videos to it. And on the TV set you can watch files that are on your computer.
I have Linux connected to a router (at least with a wi-fi cable), there is a DLNA server on it, I have prescribed which folders to show. Everything looks fine on the TV. If good wi-fi then shows normal
