How to watch network activity on linux?
I want to see all network activity on linux via gui in real time. For example, on windows I installed handy cache on port 1234, in the browser and in all programs I set 127.0.0.1:1234 as a proxy, and in handy cache through the monitor I see which requests go where, what swings, how many percent have already downloaded. Linux has an equivalent. I understand that I need a proxy agent? What do you recommend?

wireshark activity - sees almost everything that is transmitted, including not only over the network, but also over USB
Squid is a heavyweight all-rounder. Try something simpler. For example, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polipo
