What are the current microcomputers (raspberry, intel, opensource hw, etc.). To install linux, play at home?

Who is in the topic, what is now considered relevant and interesting from the world of microcomputers like Rasperry PI, Intel Compute Stick or something like that, to install linux and make a micro NAS, router or web server and stuff like that. At first, raspberries come to mind, but still other gizmos may be "in trend" now. There is generally a little-known opensource hw of the Module MB type for me . Even I like it better, but what if there is a really relevant hurricane?

You can now pre-order EOMA68 on CrowdSupply. A very interesting thing, completely open, in the Stallman spirit. There is also Novena Project, but it is already serious and a little expensive.

For me, my Android phone is the latest single board computer with Linux.
And for you, if the whole wording of your task boils down to "be in trend", then I recommend the iPhone and iPad, and even better Vertu, although not Linux, but also UNIX, and also single-board!

If you want minimal hand-finishing, a responsive community and a bunch of goodies out of the box - the last raspberry.
If there is a craving for finishing and there is no fear of the unknown - you can do something more exotic like dragon board 410c or odroid c2. Both pieces of iron on the cool amlogic s905, in terms of performance, give rpi3b a good head start.
If you need a good calculator with a desktop axis for adequate money in a credit card form factor - up board or minnowboard max.
All of the above from what I felt myself (or at least I know someone who felt it), and similar devices come out almost every day ..
