How to view a list of running programs on Windows?

In the task manager, you can see what program is running and the files in it. For example, Excel is running and shows the name of the running excel files. How can I look at this process tree using a Bat file or Java? All the methods that I found on the forums are simply the output of running programs, without children (for example, running excel files).

Running files are not shown there. What you see is open windows. Get a list of process windows.
