How to use the USB port for a network flash drive in the TR-Link MR3220 router?

The router mentioned in the name has a usb port.
How to use this port so that you can build a network drive or even an FTP storage on it permanently online (via DynDNS)?
I understand that I need custom firmware. Where and what to take, and what pitfalls can come out (can I ruin a piece of hardware with firmware?)
Firmware Version: 3.12.8 Build 110125 Rel.43954n
Hardware Version: MR3220 v1 00000000

Install OpenWrt or DD-Wrt on it. Just prepare in advance that a NAS will not work out of it - the speed will not be the highest.
