How to use the sleep mode in the a4988 driver?

Hello!
There is little information on the Internet about this, we can search badly. I need to remove the hold mode of the stepper motor when idle ... The a4988 hibernation mode is the only option, as I understand it. So I remove the jumper from the RESET and SLEEP contacts and the driver goes into hibernation. How is he supposed to wake up? Is it possible to send a pulse from the microcontroller somewhere so that it can blow out? And how is his memory? Will he continue walking from where he left off until sleep?

It's written in the datasheet.
It does not remember the steps, it will be like when the power is turned off, the stepper shaft will freely stand in the nearest stable position.
