How to use remote DHCP over VPN?
We transfer servers to the cloud infrastructure. Proxmox VE 3.3 is running on a remote server, inside which KVM virtual machines are deployed, duplicating existing physical servers. I would like, in particular, to send a DHCP server to the cloud. The question arose: is it possible to use a DHCP server that is running on a remote virtual machine?

There is such a possibility. In OpenVPN, for this, the device type must be selected - TAP, which will actually ensure the transmission of messages at the L2 level, including DHCP.
You may also need a DHCP redirector (Cisco calls it DHCP-Helper, Linux calls it dhcrelay). This will be needed if you are routing after VPN.
I have a positive experience with this solution.
