How to use jade with node.js?

I started to master node, I want to use jade in templates.
But I don't know how to put it all together.
I used to compile jade using gulp.
In the express.js generator, the templating engine is also jade. But I don’t see something that jade would be compiled into html, while everything works.
Where and where to hook the jade module, please help.
