How to use English words in terminal?

Stupid, maybe, a question related to setting up a fedora. I'll try to be brief.

Installed - opened the terminal - wanted to go to Downloads. It turned out that to do this you need to write "Downloads", not Downloads. I tried to play around with renaming folders, etc. but it didn't work properly (in Files, the sidebar stopped working).

What to do? I'm asking for some help.
