How to use ASP.NET Framework PHP programmer?

Good evening, I am a PHP programmer, and I was invited to an interview in one company for the position of a web developer, the cover letter was rather vague, so I decided to call them first, in the end I found out that I would need to support their sites on the asp.net framework, but in they did not indicate this vacancy, since it doesn’t matter to them that the programmer has a good command of this framework, they say any php programmer can easily figure it out. And in the future, they want to transfer all projects to Bitrix, but this will not happen immediatelyAll I know about ASP.NET is that it is a stray from Microsoft, and as far as I understand from Google, the platform does not offer any interactions with PHP, everywhere they write about migrating from PHP to C# ASP.NET. Is it so ? What is the entry threshold for a php programmer into this technology? Is it even worth doing this with zero contact with ASP.NET?

How to use ASP.NET Framework PHP programmer?

I'm afraid that in no way, ASP.NET is a legacy technology of Microsoft and in order to use it you need to be a c # programmer.
The technology is peculiar and has little in common with web development, it is an attempt to transfer Web forms to the web.
It would be asp mvc - it would be a little easier, it is similar in places and architecture to symphony2
If you do not know c # and are not familiar with asp at the level of 1-2 years of practice, then naturally you will not be able to support their sites on Asp.net.
But it doesn't matter
they say any php programmer can easily figure it out
asp.net
bitrix

better just run from there.

I can only assume that some very smart individual filed a site for them in ASP.NET and safely dumped it. There is no one to maintain the site, the money is invested, specialized developers do not come, and out of desperation they decided that any web developer would do.
If you have not dealt with ASP.NET and C# before, then this is a dead number.

asp.net, c#, MSSQL - this is the first thing I met in the world of programming. I tried to get acquainted with PHP after that ... In general, everything looks like heresy)) Probably the same as going from Java to C++.
But still, I don't think that this will be a big problem for you if you are an experienced programmer. Just tell them in advance that it will take you about half a year to figure it all out.
And so at the top everything was already written correctly) PHP and c# are 2 completely different things.

State? Do not confuse a person about legacy technologies: www.asp.net/mvc , www.asp.net/vnext - this is all ASP.NET too. But what is called ASP.NET WebForms - yes, this is an old technology and now it is not recommended to use it in new projects.
PHP frameworks and what ASP.NET offers are quite different things, sharp and dotnet is more for firms and medium / large projects (although the situation will change a lot in vNext, let's hope that it will be at the Ruby level in terms of complexity of use).
