How to update/switch from webback to vue-cli, build breaks?

Friends, such a story. I came to work, and there was a project on laravel + vue, a webpack assembler. The trouble is that the previous front cheated something, delved into the settings, etc., set up its build. And now with npm run prod or any other build variation commands, the following happens: The build lasts more than 4-5 minutes if you write code (it doesn’t matter js or html or css), and you make a typo or you don’t have time to add something in 2 -4 seconds, then the build crashes with errors and needs to be run again (again 4-5 minutes). It's simply impossible to work, tell me how to safely transfer and update to vue-cli without loss so that there are no errors during the build.
