How to update portable chrome so that the old settings do not fly off?

I decided to update portable chrome from 49 to 52 by making a zip archive before installing it in the same folder. After installing all the tabs, all the extensions, everything flew off! When unpacking the backup zip archive, the old settings are not returned! There was no such disgrace in firefox! How now to restore old settings, tabs, extensions? How to safely update portable chrome?

I've been sitting on it since the days of Windows XP. There is also Chrome and a bunch of other software, everything is updated automatically, "like in the best houses."
It is also worth logging into Chrome using your account. The portable version can sometimes become corrupted so that it stops running. In this case, you have to delete the browser and install it on a new one. Settings will be pulled up from the Google cloud.
