How can i upgrade macbook air 10.5.8 to 10.9 without external drive? The method with a flash drive did not work out - when you try to boot from a flash drive, it draws a lock sign and nothing happens.

10.9 Can be installed on MacBook Air (late 2008 and newer). Install from the app store, or you can install over the network.
