How to update Asterisk 1.8?

Hello. There is Asterisk 1.8.18. Not FreePBX, but a naked aster. Powered by Realtimepirs with MYSQL. There is a self-written web panel and scripts. Is it possible to update it to new versions? How can this be done so as not to redo everything from scratch? Any ideas - I would be very grateful

The latest version 18.2.1 I don’t think that the architecture of the main components has changed much there, but I would go the standard way, raise the test server to it, copy the main one and watch how self-written scripts work, if everything is ok, update the main server, no, look for what doesn’t work , fix, swap test and main
