How to undo a click after opening Select2?

On narrow (mobile) screens, the select2 dropdown opens to full screen. In this case, the drop-down list immediately closes if it is above the selection field, and selects the value that the mouse cursor is currently over. How to undo this auto click after opening the dropdown?
