How to understand this quote?

If we need to read information, for example, from bit 900, then we need to refer to the 112th byte and look at bit number 4 in it.

Hmm ... 112 bytes = 890 bits, so to get to bit 900, you need to go to byte 113 and look at bit number 3 in it.
What did I miss?

112*8 = 896
896+4 = 900

The trouble is with the head, the engineering calculator in hex gave 890. Thanks for the message.
