How to troubleshoot GitLab email sending issue on Ubuntu 14?

GitLab 8.12 on Ubuntu 14.04
No notifications sent.
A box is configured via smtp on Yandex.
Tried different boxes, different settings (with/without TLS).
I test using Email on Push service - test
Each time it gives Done in the logs, but the letters do not reach.
Where to dig?

Solved the problem just a couple of days ago.
Everything turned out to be simpler - you also need to specify gitlab_email_from, otherwise Yandex will not let you through.
