How to transfer "heavy" images of ESXi machines?

Hello!

Tell me, how did you solve this issue?

I tried to download images to another machine over a gigabit network, but when downloading back, the speed dropped to 5MB per second and the total image download time was more than 1800 minutes. Googling showed that the problem is in the meta-data.

Now I am considering the option of connecting a new disk to the server, creating a datastore from it and transferring the virus to it. machines. Next, reinstall Esxi on new disks, connect the disk with images and download it back.
Got a question. After reinstalling esxi and connecting the disk with the files vir. new esxi machines will ask you to create a new datastore? When creating a datastore, does it happen to format (damage) the data?

Sorry for the confusion and mistakes.
Thanks in advance for all replies!

@JIupuK

so if you copied virtuals to a new datastr on another screw where there is no esxi installed, then when installing esxi on another screw, you just need to run rescan in the client storage configuration and it will find the screw with virtuals and then run them on the host

Not really understood at what here meta data that?
On the file system, you just have virtual machine image files there, they will download over the network at a speed close to gigabit, and of course you need to turn them off when you copy them.
