How to train a tester?

I have over 15 years of experience as a programmer. Now I'm moving more into management.
I have several candidates to work as software testers. They successfully completed the course.
How to train them effectively?
Interested in practical advice, courses, videos or books.
Thank you very much!

How about hiring one tough tester as a lead to set up the process?

@Terras

1) Let them take any testing courses (it doesn’t really matter which ones - to test with pens - not to launch rockets into space).
2) Write good, bold test cases for some piece of functionality and tell your testers to run them a few times. And then say "Everything else needs to be checked as well."
3) As you can see which of the guys is a log, who is smart - give a quick-witted course in test design and put him to write test cases for all the functionality, and let the rest check everything on them.
4) If you want automation, then hire someone who will do it for you. When there is a framework, with a configured jenkins, it will already be easy enough to expand them (enough basic java / python courses).
