How to track visits to a site by redirect from another domain name using Google Analytics or Yandex Metrics?
There is a main domain (let's call it "domain 1") and a newly created "domain 2" for targeted advertising.
From domain 2 there is a redirect to domain 1.
Task: to find a way that allows using Google analytics or Yandex metrics to track exactly those visits that came from domain 2. It is impossible to
track visits to domain 2 as a new traffic source, since both domains lead to the same ip.
Answer the question
In order to leave comments, you need to log in
Yandex.metrics->sources->sites.
IP has nothing to do with it at all.
Or if you want to measure yourself and don't trust the headers, redirect the user to a link like domain1.ru/?referrer=domain2 and catch this case.
For an analyst, everything is simple. Add domain1.ru?utm_source=domain2.ru&utm_medium=redirect to the redirect
In analytics, this separate source will be in the list of sources.
In the metric, most likely it will fall into the report "transitions from sites"
