You need to do two things:
1) Convert the cursors to the desired format (most likely, this is the X11 cursor)

2) register new cursors in the system:
copy the new cursors to /usr/share/icons
then in the file /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme we write the path to the folder with the new cursors.
