How to switch from mysql to a file system or another?

Hello, I read somewhere that, with mysql, you can switch to the file system. or everything is stored in text format on the server.
The latter would of course be desirable.
Please explain or give a link how to do it.

MySQL is just a handy file add-on that solves a number of common problems.
So when you work with MySQL (InnoDB) you are working with files.
