How to store many images in different formats and navigate where everything is?

At first I tried to create meaningful names and break them into folders: like a logo, illustrations, .. I tried to name them by date and tags: yellow background. But now I understand that quickly finding the right file becomes a problem. The utility from adobe bridge helps a little. How do you organize, sort and store files?

Everything lies in _projects/
Further _projects/name/… for large customers, inside a folder with projects and tasks (website, icons, banners, etc.)
or _projects/icons_sitename , _projects/ill_companyname for one-time tasks for one client. Often several of these folders are collected into one, described in the paragraph above.
Everything old, forgotten and irrelevant is in [archive]/… and gets it when needed.
All rubbish is in _trash/… and is raked once every six months or a year.
All sorts of folders with references, if they appear, then for a short time (even 5-10 years ago I realized that it was faster to find something on the Internet than on my disk).
For me personally, there has never been anything more convenient. There are no problems with finding the necessary files, but there are problems in order to remember who did a specific task once upon a time.
