How to start working?

Hello.

I am young, studying at a technical school (graduation) in an unusual specialty, in no way related to programming.
At one time, at my leisure, I decided to learn HTML. It ended up that I figured out CSS as well, learned how to layout well, figured out JavaScript and jquery. After I learned php, MySQL, I started rummaging through the Yii framework, and everything was pretty good.

But for almost a year now I can't find anything. At different vacancies, it is impossible to watch how they demand from junior as from senior, and everyone asks for a “portfolio”. I have long wanted to find a remote team and gain experience from them, but everyone either asks a lot or does not answer.

I'm self-taught and tech. I don’t have a diploma, I just want to become an ace in this field, and I can’t figure out how to start?

Thanks in advance.

Option number one:
Go to a freelance exchange (domestic fl.ru, freelance.ru, freelansim.ru or foreign), filter the order feed by your skills and write that you are ready to do the job for a certain amount without prepayment and what if a person like it - he will pay, and if not - he simply will not take the job. Here you need to be prepared that you can be “thrown”, but understand that you are doing this “for the sake of experience”.
In the worst case, you won't get paid, but you'll put the work in your portfolio.
At best, they will pay you and leave a review and the work will fall in the portfolio.
Option number two:
Contact designers, they can also be found on freelance, and say that they can offer your services in layout/programming/your version.
In this case, the conditions for the customer may be the same, and for the designer, there may also be a percentage of the transaction. Here the worst and best cases are the same as in the previous version.
Option number three:
Take and make a site based on a ready-made template with easy customization for yourself / brother / relative / charitable organization / city organization / enterprise / your version and put it in your portfolio.
You don’t get money here, but the work is more complete.
When there are 2-3 good works in the portfolio, you can already start taking a small advance payment and work according to the option there is an order - there is your offer. When there are 5-10 worthy works, you can easily get a job if you still want to go to the office :)

It is strange that you do not have a portfolio, you studied and practiced only theoretically? Did you do any projects? So much knowledge and never managed to put it into practice?

I don't see a problem.
You come to the employer and say that you want to work and develop in this direction.
You ask for a salary of 1/2 from a junior and they take you
After 3 months, the salary will still be raised to normal. Until the experience comes.

That's how I want it too. I have experience in HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and just starting to learn JS and JQuery. But I can't find my team. Now I am writing my CMS and I am almost finished. There are many ideas on how to use this knowledge that I have. That's just one to work, a bit more difficult.
I also wanted to create such a question, but you already created it. Can we be a team together, remotely? I will share my ideas with you. Send me an email: admin @kemply .com or VKontakte vk.com/id184054083
