How to start downloading skills in the back-end?

Hello.
I am an average front-end developer)
I know HTML, CSS, JS, superficially PHP and MYSQL.
I want to move on. In the back-end.
What is the best place to start?
Language? Framework? May be something else?
Thank you.

Patterns, STREAMS (locks, mutexes, critical sections, etc.), concurrent (stream) collections, features of those-other-other databases. Sockets, the entire TCP/IP stack, in detail. Writing tons of tests. Pretty deep understanding of the language (Java, C#). This code does not sort the numbers in the array. It takes about 3-5 months to move from front-end to back-end, but this is if within the company where you already work. Provided that you pull at least for junior backend.

If you have a superficial knowledge of PHP, then it is logical to develop it by studying a solid framework, I would recommend Yii. Well, in order not to experience mental anguish about the correctness of the choice, you can try something else, for example Python.

PHP is of course very popular and convenient for hosting, but as a language it is not very good. Python is a much more decent thing. Still, by the way, GoLang from Google is very interesting. Very beautiful, concise and interesting.
In general, if it is possible to avoid PHP, do it. Otherwise - only PHP.
