How to speed up rendering of viewports in 3ds max?

There is a problem - in rather complex projects , rendering in viewports slows down , editing projects becomes a pain - any movement in the frame and the redrawing of objects in the frame begins.
The situation is complicated by the fact that there is a lot of vegetation in the scene, consisting of rather small objects.
3Ds Max 9
Processor Core i7-3770k
RAM 8 gig, it doesn't reach the swap, it's enough.
Built-in video card
So far, I'm mentally ready to spend about 10k rubles to speed up the viewport. What will help more?
Programmatically somehow really speed up?
I suspect a video card would be useful, but which one?
The rendering speed satisfies me. Google didn't ban me, but for some queries it gives mostly data from 2012 or about rendering acceleration, which I like anyway.

Programmatically, you can start.
In max, starting from 2012, it seems that the viewport driver was changed to Nitrous, which works much faster. Then buy a Game card and do not regret the amount of video memory. Do not buy a quadra, I have been working in Max for centuries, I know.
