How to solve WiFi driver problems on Ubuntu?

Good day.
We have an old laptop Dell Inspiron 1520 with Ubuntu 16.04.1 and a Broadcom WiFi adapter (integrated).
After installing Ubuntu, only ethernet works.
We do not have an open driver for our wireless adapter, so we select the proposed proprietary driver for it, after which we observe the following picture:

• ethernet disappears after reboot
  
• WiFi doesn't even think about waking up
  

That is, we generally remain without communication ( I am
waiting for your help, dear friends!
