How to solve the problem with installing mods on Minecraft?
Didn't think I would have to ask this question here.
Well...
All the launchers I download "update" the game client file (which is 1.*.*.jar) to its original state.
I tried turning off the Internet, as well as prohibiting writing to the file itself - it did not help.
And such here a question - how to put them?
Maybe there is a launcher somewhere that is in no hurry to return the modified file to its original state?
archlinux OS

If you are sure that this is not normal behavior, then just copy the "old" files back after installation =)
I am using Ubuntu. Java is installed, minecraft is working. Personally, I took this launcher. It's like for a server, but you can play offline. When you run it, it will download the necessary files (at the moment it seems like version 1.6.4 but without "industrial" mods). Alternatively, if there are no mods for this version, or if they also don’t want to be installed, then my advice to you is: download the archive with the ready-made client version 1.5.2 and replace the one that the launcher downloaded.
