How to solve terminal error when installing npm?

I'm trying to install npm from ubunta turnip, nodejs installed fine, but npm started having problems.
$ sudo apt install npm

sudo apt autoclean
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_12.x | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
