How to simulate packet loss?

Hello, not so long ago it was necessary to artificially worsen the Internet. I dug up a program called clumsy, you can do a lot of things there, and most importantly, what I need is to simulate the loss of outgoing packets. The program is good, but I need to somehow automate this process, because in order to turn on the program, you need to minimize and press the button. I have two options, either to write packet loss, or somehow through the code to press this fucking button without minimizing, I will be very happy if you tell me at least a little, preferably in languages from tags.

For example, in FreeBSD, the standard ipfw firewall has such a thing as dummynet - especially for testing purposes. There you can set the settings for the speed and percentage of losses. You can debug network applications very well if you make a fool with a firewall-like gateway between the client and the server of your application. Such a grid can easily be raised on virtual machines.
