I don’t understand a little why you need a root on Desire for this procedure?
Here the main question is how to share the Internet on the laptop in such a way that Desire can see it! If he sees the Internet, he will get access to updates through FOTA.
Or am I misunderstanding something...
If the essence of the issue is only in updating the firmware, then here is the firmware in the form of an exe file.
Login-password: shipped
As for me, it’s better to buy a router ... If you have enough money for a good Sony and enough for Desire, then $ 45 for Dlink (or better 55-60 for Cisco) and no problems ...
Everything is very simple, Desire, like any other phone from HTC, can be flashed from an SD card.
- It is enough to find the zip file with the update, rename it to update.zip and put it in the root of the SD card.
- Turn off the phone, then hold down Power + Volume Down the phone will boot into the HBOOT bootloader.
- From the menu item, select recovery: a triangle with an exclamation mark will appear.
- Hold down the Power + Volume Up buttons, a menu will appear.
- In the recovery menu, select Update from update.zip
That's it, the phone is officially flashed with the official firmware.
