How to set up your own remote webserver with apache/php/mysql?

There is a remote hosting (VPS) with Debian on board.
I want to make a server for experiments, and can keep a couple of pages for friends.
The information I found is not very satisfactory (some old, some vague, little about security)
Help me find information:
How to install: ftp, apache, php, mysql, phpmyadmin, git, svn
- so that everything works well
- has all the functions like with a normal provider
- it was as safe as possible (firewall settings, ssh, access rights)
and everything is explained in detail so that it is clear what is being done and why ...
and can someone finally explain what “Nginx on the frontend” is?

You have a unique opportunity, there are a lot of good admins right on this resource, advertise in the job section. They will set up the server well for you, explain which buttons to press, you will pay them money and you will sleep peacefully.
You understand that mastering all the manuals, trial and error methods will take you years of man-hours, or you can already take a ready-made specialist and pay him for a day or two.
By the way, hosting providers themselves provide such services.

“and can someone finally explain what “Nginx on the frontend” is?”
If you do not know the answer to this question, then they will not help you, look for and study the literature, then what seems slurred to you can simply be an excellent manual, you just do not understand all the terms.

Here is an excellent article on Habré:

There, however, without Apache, but in fact it is not needed.

I like this documentation, because step by step, with screenshots, they tell “what to press and where to poke” + we immediately install the control panel ... free and, by the way, quite stable working ... I I have been using it since the 2nd version, I recently upgraded to the 3rd - it suits me quite well.
