How to set up Nouveau?

I know that there is a free Nouveau driver, but how can I set it up properly?
I have a resolution of one monitor 2560x1440 and the second 1920x1080
On the first monitor, the resolution is generally low and the monitor is defined as unknown, and it does not see the second monitor at all, why then this free driver? (just like Internet Explorer, you launch to download another browser)

Install arandr and don't worry. It is very convenient to work with profiles.
