How to set up monitoring of Zabbix agents on another network?

Good day!
I started to consider Zabbix as a monitoring system for internal and external infrastructure and at the moment I did not understand how to connect zabbix agents to a server on another network.
Those. there is an internal network in which servers and client machines are located.
There is a gateway based on Kerio Control, 2 external channels and VPN.
There is a VPS on aws.amazon, on which Zabbix-server is installed.
There are no problems with monitoring external resources, everything is quite accessible according to the manuals.
How to be with monitoring of resources in a network which for Kerio?
Only installing Zabbix-proxy inside the network?

Or zabbix-proxy or make active agents that initiate the connection themselves.

Theoretically, you can still try port forwarding on the router, and on the server, respectively, assign one address and a separate port to each node.
But I would choose a proxy. It’s also good with him that in the event of a communication channel failure, you will still receive data during downtime, albeit with a delay.
