How to set up internet on inux Ubuntu 14.04?

In general Now I'm stuck on Windows. I plan to switch completely to Linux, but the problem is that the "connect to the Internet" checkbox has gone off the Linux installation, usually it turns on automatically for everyone (incompatibility with Sony VAIO) Internet directly from the cable. Only Google connects. Help me figure out how to connect the Internet.

I have Ubuntu 14.04 and the Gnome 2 environment
Go to "System-Settings-Network Connections"
Next, see the screen Highlighted with a marker where to go
Select your connection and click on the "Edit ..." or "Edit ..." button
See screenshot below.
Next, see the screenshot below. Setting up your network. The data must be obtained from your provider or your Router. I blurred my settings in the screen!
I hope this will help you in setting up a wired Internet.

A correctly asked question contains half of the answer, your question is asked incorrectly, re-ask. What does it mean that only Google connects, what is the checkmark and what does Sony have to do with it?

It depends on what method you connect via cable, if it's just a plugged cable, then you need to look at the settings of IP addresses, gateways.
If PPOE then you need to configure through the console.

It's just that Linux hints that it's too early
