Hello, I read that if PHP crashes on the server, then the user will simply download the source code of the page. Question. Is it possible to configure htaccess so that when PHP crashes, it just gives 500.

If php crashes then the user will get a 500 error. You can download the source code if your php is not processed by anything, i.e. nginx or apache is not configured to return php or there is no such php on the server
