How to set up dynamic subdomains on VDS?

Implemented a system of dynamic subdomains through APACHE and HTACCESS.
When I was on a regular hosting, everything worked, moved to VDS - it stopped working, although the settings are the same...
The main site goes without problems, but any subdomain, including www.* - "Could not find the server's IP address."
What could be the problem, where to dig?

Add: WWW is specified as an alias (i.e. www.site.ru), as well as *.site.ru, as well as web.site.ru... none of them work, the above error is everywhere

Dig into DNS. Apache settings alone are not enough.
On a shared hosting, it seems that the DNS server directed any subdomain to your Apache.
