How to set up DNS instead of using hosts (windows)?

Good day!
According to a longstanding tradition, our organization uses the hosts file (%systemroot%\system32\divers\etc\hosts) to organize some kind of routing. Naturally, if you add a new web resource from an adjacent network, you have to add its address in the hosts file.
Is it possible to somehow simplify this procedure, for example, to register the names and ip-addresses of the published hosts in the DNS domain settings? And how to do it, if possible, in detail :)

Mdaaaa, well, you were delayed with the move to DNS)))
I have done it like this at home, there is a gateway on Debian, dnsmasq works as DNS on it, in turn it contains addresses that are given to clients, I give this:
i.e. . the gateway gives the address and the address.
then I just edit on the gateway /etc/hosts
if I need to add something.
Because he first looks in hosts anyway, and only then in resolv.conf where external DNS are specified.
But in the case of a small organization, up to 50-100 machines will work.
If more, then the normal Bind must be raised, dnsmasq is just a revolver.

well, raise it on the DNS server (you have Windows, as I understand it). This is done by adding a server role.
then everything is simple - you create a record of type A on the server - this is just the IP-name.
profit.

Do you have a domain (which clearly implies the presence of a DNS server on the network), but do you register clients in hosts at the same time? Famously, famously ... Transfer all records to the domain DNS, do not suffer from nonsense.
Yes, and name resolution (DNS) has nothing to do with routing. The connection between them is the same as between registering a car with the traffic police and "how to get to the library."
