How to set up default search in OS X Yosemite?

Good day. The problem is that the search refuses to work on an external hard drive. Both the built-in (standard) search tool and the integrated search tool (Spotlight) do not work.

  • OS: OS X Yousemite 10.10.1;
  • Hard drive: WD My Passport 2TB.

The hard drive is divided into 2 partitions. 300 Gb is reserved for Time Machine, the rest is in the NTFS file system. To work with NTFS, the NTFS for Mac OS X utility is installed. The search does not work on two partitions. OS X Mavericks didn't have this problem. In Windows (I thought that the problem was in the hard drive), the search also works. On other media, the search works properly. It is possible to format the disk, but I want to know the reason. Thank you.
