How to set up a VPN to save traffic?

Hello!
I have 3g internet - somewhere around 4 megabits and traffic is 16 gigabytes per month and the quality is not very good. The package is really expensive (I don’t want to connect 3 SIM cards and pay for three).
Is there any way I can get more out of it?
Will compression do anything? Maybe someone froze?
If I connect to my server on DO?

Who told you that VPN ping improves? To the current ping, add the ping about the country in which the VPS on DO lives
