How to set default system fonts in Ubuntu 14.04?

On Ubuntu 14.04, I installed the Gnome 3 and KDE shells, after which I removed them (as far as I could). Of course, after that, several malfunctions arose in the system, the lion's share of which was corrected. But one remained, the system font has ceased to be bold, this is clearly visible, for example, on the "Ru-En" language selection icon or in the address bar of the browser...
It is possible that these two problems are due to the fact that I experimented with various commands before, trying remove Gnome 3 and Kde shells. Perhaps the necessary packages flew into the basket. Tell me, is there a section in Synaptic dedicated to the unity shell?
PS At the same time, all the fonts in the guest account are normal, I'm sure that if you create a new account, then there will be no problems with the fonts either, it turns out that the fonts themselves remain in the system ... It's different.

Since you've alternately demolished gnome and KDE, it won't be hard for you to remove the configuration directories (.gnome, partly .config, etc.). If not, google where gnome stores its font settings.
