How to set default audio device in Windows via command line/script?

Windows has a sound control panel called by the mmsys.cpl command or from the Control menu.
This menu contains a list of devices connected to the PC and one of them can be selected as the default device. The devices connected are constantly the same, but can be reconnected. I would like to have a shortcut on the desktop that will assign a specific device as the default device, regardless of which one was installed at the time the shortcut was launched.
Google did not suggest how you can solve the problem with a script without involving third-party software.

I can only point to the volume2 program - it implements the switching of audio devices from the tray menu. Maybe you can get in touch with the author.
Generally to dig towards winapi.
