How to set correct path to gif in css?

There is a gif in the img folder. The img folder is in the same directory as the css folder, which contains the main.css file.
I set the path in main.css: ../img/chototam.gif and it gives an error, because searches along the path ../css/img/chototam.gif. And how to fix it? There is no img folder in css and there shouldn't be.

The paths are spelled out correctly, when you set the background-image to the block, the block must have a width and height + about using the console, do not forget that you can see if the image has loaded, gif or not.
