How to sequentially merge several pictures into one or PDF?

With what and how (ideally, Linux console) can I glue a series of pictures with fragments overlapping horizontally into one PDF document or one large picture? Example:

@zamboga

ShareX can stitch images together
And any online service for converting images to PDF will convert the image to PDF.

Photoshop knows how to work with PDF files. True, this is not "console Linux", but it can do "everything" with pictures, including "glue".
