How to send a request to search for places in Russian?

Hello everyone, I have a problem with the Google Maps API. When searching for "Moscow pharmacies Fortunatovskaya" the server sends an error. And at the request "moskva apteki fortunatovskaya" sends a normal response.
That is, I understand correctly that I need to do transliteration for each user request? Or can this be avoided?
