How to see your changes after a pull request in your project?

Good afternoon,
I made my first pull request to someone else's project. The author has not yet accepted the changes, but I need to use them in my project. How to update or reinstall the author's project so that my changes are visible.
Thank you.
PS: I don't want to upload my changes to packagist.org

Specify your repository in composer and use your code until the author merges your changes: https://getcomposer.org/doc/05-repositories.md#vcs
