How to see the contents of the var/www folder?

How to view the contents of the /var/www folder
If you specify a direct path like this var/www/site, then everything opens, but if you go to the /var/www folder and view its contents with ls -al, then there is nothing there
, it’s not about root,
maybe the logs what that is where all sorts of hidden paths are visible?

I find 2 logical explanations:
1. You don't need /var/www/, but ~/var/www/. Or more simply, you need cd var/www
2. You don't have read permissions. Print permissions on /var/www and I'll tell you if my guess is correct.
Solution: download rights.

The /var/www folder starting with / is a folder relative to the root of the file system. The var/www
folder beginning with www is a folder relative to the current directory. The current directory can be found with the pwd command .
