How to save RTSP stream?

We put EV6552A cameras on the points, now VLC writes video to the computer.
At different points, the video comes out differently, somewhere 2 GB a working day, and somewhere more than 20.
The company that installed the cameras does not want to report anything, does not share software and settings.
Because there are nettops on the points, they barely cope with the task, the processor is loaded almost everywhere > 50% by VLC alone. Hence the terrible brakes and complaints from the operators.
Tell me, what other software, besides VLC, can capture the stream from the camera (as I understand it, the RTSP protocol), it is desirable that there be more settings, and of course the software is free for commercial use (although, probably, it will also agree to paid solutions boss).
