How to replicate Photoshop functionality in GIMP?

Hello! Recently, to my great regret, my license for Photoshop has expired. Paying 20 thousand again does not want to download pirates either. Therefore, I decided to install GIMP to try it out as an alternative to Photoshop. But when studying this application, I ran into a problem: the program from Adobe had a very convenient selection function (along the contour), in order to then remove the background, and so on. My question is, is it possible to replicate such a function in GIMP, although there is a similar one, but it works strangely.
I will be grateful for your help!

No way.
The GIMP developers themselves confirm that their product cannot be any adequate replacement for Photoshop.
