How to replace the standard bitrix component?

Bitrix has a standard catalog.smart.filter component. I want to make my custom component be called, with the visual part changed. Here's what I did:
1. Created a folder templates\my template\components\bitrix\catalog.smart.filter
2. I copied the standard component there and changed it the way I needed
3. Bitrix continues to grab the standard component, not the one which I created.
Tell me what I'm doing wrong, maybe I missed something? Thanks

So it seems that you did everything right, it remains only to select "Component template" in the component settings.
I usually do this:
1) Turn on edit mode and copy the component template joxi.ru/Dr8WD5duXM0jA6 directly on the site 2
) For example, I call the new template template1
3) In the component settings, you can now see the new template template1 joxi.ru/YmE1bxKiEMK7m6
